History in our Harbour: Cockatoo Island
Cockatoo Island is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest islands here on the Sydney Harbour, situated at the confluence of the Lane Cove and Parramatta Rivers. It’s known for hosting festivals and events, and was even the site for the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie. Mr. John Jeremy, Cockatoo’s last CEO when it was an operational dockyard, gave us a brief history lesson on the island’s clandestine past, and relational significance on the Harbour.
