Home birth to hospital – the potential problems during transfer

For many women, the idea of home birth is an attractive one – you’re in your own home, you can have more people you trust around you and also risks of infection are lower than that  in hospitals.

But as far as birth goes, things don’t always go according to plan – and women can be told by their midwives that a transfer to hospital could better ensure the birth goes smoothly.

However, that transfer to hospital also presents some issues – making sure it’s done quickly and efficiently, but also changeover in care – with private midwives being stripped of their duties and replaced with midwives who work in hospital.
