In the Year of the Rat, China has chosen to ignore all the agreements it has made on Hong Kong.

The new “Security Law”  passed to keep people safe from grandmothers with yellow umbrellas and well dressed students, is designed to quickly scoop up any slight suggestion of protest and incarcerate innocent people in the dark bowels of a Beijing prison.

Whilst many have expected a crackdown with some form of this law, the sting in the tail is the provisions to apply the penalties to non-citizens outside of Hong Kong.  This means literally anybody, and in the short run is designed to frighten Taiwan into submission.
