Is the Aussie home owner dream heading out the back door?
The latest nationwide household survey (HILDA) that measures trends in living conditions such as family, savings and income, has revealed that soon less than half the adult population will own a home. Couples aged 65 and over reaped the reward from property investments to be the wealthiest demographic. However, Malcolm Turnbull’s suggestions back in May, for parents to just buy their kids a home, to bridge intergenerational equity reveals a truly systemic issue that begins at the top.
