Earlier this week, Victorians were faced with the news that their recycling could be headed straight for landfill after recycling plant SKM decided to shut its doors to over 30 councils.

It’s another blow to the industry a year after China decided to halt taking recycling from Australia. Proposals such as burning or burying our waste have been proposed, but with a lack of harmony between states and territories, the issue is set to continue.

We chat to Rose Read from the National Waste and Recycling Industry Council about potential solutions and what comes next.
