How non-compete agreements can hurt Australian workers

Navigating your career can throw up a variety of barriers – and one of them might be a non-compete agreement with your old employer.

These tools are designed to protect businesses. But their widespread use has far-reaching consequences for job mobility, wages and innovation, right across Australia.

Professor Paula McDonald is Professor of Work and Organisation, at the Queensland University of Technology.

She recently led a research project that takes a look at how these restraints impact Australia’s workforce – and she joined us on the line this morning.
