How young people’s experiences of news media have changed in 2020

With ‘fake news’ being more prevalent than ever within online spaces, is it time we put more attention into teaching the next generation how to navigate online news critically? According to the recently released survey ‘News and Young Australians in 2020’ only 36% of young people feel comfortable discerning fake news while a large number of them didn’t challenge the news that they consumed at all. To discuss this further we had survey co-author and Senior Lecturer in Communications and Western Sydney University, Dr Tanya Notley to discuss.
