Image Based Abuse and the Law

Have you ever taken a picture of yourself to send to a significant other, or just for a bit of fun, that you wouldn’t want shared with the world? Taking sexy selfies is increasingly common behaviour, particularly for young people with some surveys claiming around 70 percent of 18 to 24-year-olds engage in sending or receiving racy pics. But this behaviour and trust is also open to abuse and in some respects the law is still catching up to the misuse of these images. Nathaniel Keesing spoke with law reform activist Noelle Martin and Pip Mitchell, an expert in public and administrative law about image based abuse and the law.
