Imagine a City like Sydney
What do the Sydney Opera House, Taronga Zoo and the Central Railway Station have in common?
Well, they are all well-known buildings in Sydney! Furthermore, they are all designed by the NSW Government Architect’s Office.
For 200 years the NSW Government Architect’s Office has been a driving force behind plenty of our most celebrated as well as controversial buildings.
Since 1816 the Office designed most of our major museums, galleries and libraries and to celebrate this huge birthday a free exhibition; “Imagine a City”, is presented in the State Library’s original galleries from the 20th of February until the 8th of May.
Charles Pickett, the curator of “Imagine a City” recently compiled a list of hits´ and misses´ of our beloved state buildings for this fascinating exhibition.
