Increasing the visibility of female coaches in children’s sports
If you ask your son or daughter, niece, or nephew to draw you a picture of a sports coach, they would most probably draw a man. But why is that?
Earlier this month, Stefan Sambol, a psychology research fellow at Victoria University, and his co-writers Dr Kara Dadswell and Clare Hanlon released a research paper that broke down the psychology behind the absence of female sporting coaches in the lives of children.
This week, Stefan came onto the show to discuss the implications of his research. From the bias against female coaches to the importance of having these female role models in children’s lives, Stefan covers it all.
