India has just begun its 39 day election marathon to decide who will be their next Prime Minister. The worlds largest democracy has some high stakes this time, India will decide if it remains a secular nation, as written in its constitution, or become a Hindu Nation. Voters will decide between 12 major parties, but the real contenders will be between Modi, who is seeking re-election and Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi. 2SER was joined by Peter Mayer from Adelaide University to discuss more with us.
