Indonesian government pushing more community maintained toilets
What if every time you needed to go to the toilet you had to walk out of your house and down to the shopping district bathrooms?
For many Indonesian communities this is a reality, with such community members also being responsible for the operation and maintanence of these sanitation systems.
The Indonesian government is also pushing for 100,000 more of these community operated systems to be built by 2019, which raises an interesting question – should you be in charge of your own waste disposal?
Speakers:
- Katie Ross – Researcher from the Institute for Sustainable Futures at the University of Technology Sydney.
- Prast from the Association for Community Based Sanitation Organisations in Indonesia
