It’s summer break in Toronto and teen runaway Julian is determined to get himself and his queer best friends, Otis and Toni, into a Toronto nightclub. Julian lives with trans woman Dawn, but it’s a precarious existence compared to the relative stability of the lives of his friends. When things unexpectedly change for Julian, the three find they have some harsher realities to face. Evan Shapiro speaks with director Joseph Amenta who is a festival guest of Queer Screen. Soft makes its international premiere at the festival on Tuesday 28 February at 7.30 pm.
