The Bread and Puppet Theatre, The Music Community and the Lost Dog Tour Film with Isobel Knight

Are you a fan of live Sydney talent and documentary films? You have the rare opportunity to get them both in one place at the upcoming Lost Dog Tour Film Residency in Surry Hills.

The film, which is shot entirely on Super 8, follows Isobel Knight and her folk trio’s 2023 tour as they play shows around America. With handpicked moments shot on a (sometimes) unreliable medium, the film is an exploration of the experience and captures golden moments shared between the trio and their audiences. Shot and put together by Rosie Whatmuff, the film captures the trip as they sing in a 100-year-old cottage, open for a summer circus and head to a lobster fishing island – all while sharing their folk melodies with American audiences that will listen.

Isobel Knight is a folk singer/songwriter living right here in Sydney. One of the most impressive parts of Isobel’s musicianship is her emotive and visual lyrics. Her 2021 album ‘Here Now’ feels like you’re walking right alongside her as she experiences her life. These lyrics accompanied by her stellar and distinct voice are a perfect combination that has put her on the map. You may have caught her touring with the Sydney-based band Post following the release of their latest album ‘Fitzville

Taking place at the Golden Age Cinema and Bar in Surry Hills, the film will be screening every Tuesday from the 13th of August to the 27th of August. It will be followed by live performances from the trio and a local Sydney act. Absolute legends Lindsey, Nick Griffith and Beryl will be joining the trio on their respective dates.

Isobel Knight joined me this week to chat about the touring process, the importance of community and SOPHIE.
