Israel Folau and Homophobia in Australian Sports
Israel Folau’s recent comments on Instagram – that gay people will go to Hell unless they repent- has revealed an underlying homophobia we continue to observe in Australian sport culture.
Rugby Australia criticised Folau’s comments but did not impose any sanctions against him. This response has left many cold, feeling Rugby Australia did not go far enough.
