Experiencing everything from the jungles of Vietnam to the bathhouses of 70’s San Francisco to the front line of the American culture war, Armistead Maupin has led a pretty extraordinary life. So much so that his life is the topic of a new documentary, The Untold Tales of Armistead Maupin. The film, directed by Jennifer Groot, premiered on May 13 at the American Essentials film Festival and chronicles both Armistead’s life as well as the gay scene of San Fransisco. Jack spoke to Jennifer about the amazing documentary.
