The role of the film editor is one of those many unrecognised roles important to producing those rare glimpses of cinema magic, weaving together images in a way that inspires feeling and a sense of place.

And to explore this topic a new documentary “Jill Bilcock: Dancing the Invisible” has launched in cinemas focusing on an pioneering editor involved in many great Australian and international films, such as Baz Luhrman’s Romeo and Juliet, Moulin Rouge, Elizabeth, Head On and Red Dog .

Stephen Hill talked to the film’s director Axel Grigor about this documentary.
