Killer tea towels? How to keep your kitchen hygienic
Last month The Bolt Report’s Andrew Bolt attacked Coles’ and Woolworths’ new policy to ban single-use plastic bags, accusing the non-washable polypropylene bags of being capable of collecting potentially deadly bacteria such as E-coli. Whether there’s truth in this or not, Bolt’s report has thrown into question whether your trusty kitchen tea towels might also be a hygiene hazard.
We spoke to Gastroenterologist Dr Vincent Ho, Senior Lecturer at Western Sydney University’s School of Medicine, and regular here at 2ser. He told us how often we should be washing our tea towels, which materials are most hygienic, and how we can maximise our kitchen’s hygiene.
