Know My Name

Female artists have played a role in telling our country’s story for hundreds of years, even thousands for our Indigenous community. Yet, according to the 2019 Countess Report, the number of works exhibited by women in our State-owned galleries is less than 35%. The National Gallery of Australia is working to make sure the numbers improve.

Know My Name is a current campaign to bring female artists to the foreground. And although we may not be able to attend the gallery right at this moment, there are over 1000 billboards around the country showcasing the works of some of our great female artists.

Jessi England from the National Gallery of Australia is the program and campaign manager for Know My Name and she joined us this morning.
