Do You Know Where Your Rubbish Goes?

We’ve all been taught to clean up our rubbish and to do our part for the environment on the annual Clean Up Australia Day, but should we have a Clean Up the Ocean Day? The Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies recently released a new study that has found that the highest concentration of plastic waste in the world has been found on a remote uninhabited island, with an estimated 37.7 million pieces of rubbish being found. The author of the study, Dr Jennifer Lavers from the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies at the University of Tasmania, joined us on 2SER to talk about this issue.
