Wintering transports the reader down toward the southernmost parts of Tasmania and into the lives of Jessica and Matthew. They live a secluded life in an out-of-the-way cabin until one evening Matthew fails to return home and Jessica receives a call; the police have found his car and his phone abandoned on an isolated section of road.
