Lack of Evidence Preventing the Lift of Ban on E-cigarettes

Countries like England, Scotland and New Zealand have legalised the use of nicotine in e-cigarettes and vapes in recent years to combat smoking, but Australia has not seemed to have followed suit. Many Australian public health experts oppose the use of e-cigarettes, arguing there isn’t enough evidence to show they’re safe, and Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt saying last month that he would never lift the ban on e-cigarettes.

Colin Mendelsohn, a tobacco treatment specialist and professor at the School of Public Health and Community Medicine at UNSW, joined us on the Daily to have a chat about e-cigarettes and why we’re behind.
