‘Law and order’ on the cards in week one of Federal Election Campaign

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has pushed for increased community safety and stronger action on organised crime during a brief visit to Melbourne this week.
The comments come after his Northern Territory and Queensland counterparts campaigned hard on youth crime and ‘law and order’ policies in their own elections last year.
The Victorian Labor government recently passed harsher bail laws following pressure from the Liberal party and community.
Federal Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus has brushed off concerns around Peter Dutton’s rhetoric.
But, Greens Senator David Shoebridge, says these attitudes towards crime could impact the federal election in May.
