Law enforcement experts urge Australia to address drug trade across the Pacific

Australia’s growing drug trade is having major implications for small Pacific nations, according to law enforcement experts.

The nation’s so-called appetite for drugs has resulted in a boom in the industry, with increasing numbers of drug traffickers moving in-transit through nations of the Pacific.

Now the government is being called to take responsibility for issues of corruption, bribery and organised crime the drug trade has brought to neighbouring nations.

Julia Carr-Catzel spoke with John Coyne, head of Border Security at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute to find out the extent of the issue.
