The Legitimacy and Efficiency of NAPLAN In Australian
NAPLAN or the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy is perhaps one of the biggest measures of effectiveness and efficiency in Australian education. The program however has come under fire by Greg Whitby, the director of Catholic education in the Parramatta. Whitley alleges that “The HSC has had its day. The current HSC is rarely used to seek employment and only 20 per cent of students use their ATAR to get into university,” and that NAPLAN is used to misinform. Talking to us about this today is Blaise Joseph; an Education Policy Analyst at The Centre for Independent Studies and author of ‘The Fantasy of Gonski Funding: The Ongoing Battle over School Spending’.
