The Liberals Sign A Gender Diversity Plan To Increase Women In Parliament
Women have always been low in numbers in parliament. There have been many talks and attempts to increase female representation in the parliament, and the latest one is coming from the Liberal Party. Only 18 of the Liberal Party’s 84 MPS are women, the lowest in years despite a goal of 50% representation by 2025. In response, the Liberal party has signed a gender diversity plan to recruit more women at the party’s grassroots level, and offer them one on one mentorship if they wish to one day represent Australia in parliament.
We were joined by DR Jenny Stock, Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide, to discuss women’s place in Parliament and the Liberal’s new diversity plan.
