Limited Services To Combat High Drug and Alcohol Issues
Have you ever had a night out on the town end up in the emergency department or the back of an ambulance? It’s never fun, but the odds of ending up in hospital are much higher for people with a drug or alcohol issue. A new report from the National Drug and Alcohol Research centre at UNSW says one-third of patients in emergency rooms need help with drug and alcohol problems but services are limited and few are getting referred to that assistance. Lead author of the report, Kerryn Butler, joined us on the show to talk about this report.
