‘Living in the landscape’: Walking around Sydney with Leigh Shearer-Heriot
Sydney is a great place for a walk, and no one knows that better than Leigh Shearer-Heriot.
Since the 1980s, Leigh has been mapping out trail networks and finding hidden gems around Sydney’s beautiful coastlines and river valleys. The Great North Walk, which Leigh and fellow bushwalker Garry McDougall mapped from Sydney to Newcastle in the 80s, was the first of Leigh’s many trail projects.
Now as Vice President of Sydney-based organisation the Walking Volunteers, he has mapped thousands of kilometres of trails from the Sydney Coast to the Blue Mountains.
Producer Ollie talks with Leigh about what makes Sydney such a great place to walk.
