Living In The Middle Ages
Medieval Europe was brutal and unforgiving. Stretching from the fall of the Western Roman Empire in the 5th century to the beginning of the Florentine Renaissance in the late 15th century, the Middle Ages was an age marred by intense religious authority, wars and plagues such as the Black Death. However, developments in theology and philosophy during this time increased the intellectual activity of European society and allowed for cultural and technological change. Associate Professor Daniel Anlezark, whose research interests focus on the literature and science of the Middle Ages at the University of Sydney, joined us on the line to teach us more about this fascinating age in human history.
