From Our Bedrooms to Yours: Lo-fi beats 🎧 to “self-care” to – Full Immersion

Ever since quarantine became a universal experience for everyone, the phenomenon that is ‘lo-fi hip-hop beats to relax/study to’ has broadened in appeal because it helps soundtrack the bedroom boredom of our lives in lockdown. Known for its intentionally imperfect sonic quality, lo-fi has garnered significant popularity with productivity streams, as work-from-home measures mean more hours logged online. In a season of true social distancing, having a community to vibe, study, and be productive with is balm in a traumatic year.

One of these localised communities is the UNSW lo-fi society. Drive executive producer, Jono, had a chat with exco president Tom Lee, and events director Lavinia Lay, on their debut mixtape ‘self-care’, now streaming on YouTube and Soundcloud, and coming to Spotify on 1 October.
