Local Artist Spotlight – Egoism
Egoism - 2SER Local Artist Spotlight
This week on the Local Artist Spotlight on 2SER, Jono Chang from Tuesday Drive caught up with hometown heroes and ethereal shoegazers Egoism, who market themselves as “just a local band from Sydney”…
Comprised of co-lead vocalists Olive Rush (also guitar) and Scout Eastment (also bass), together with drummer Adam Holmes, Egoism are a bedroom dreampop trio with a knack for weaving seamless vocal interplay over lucid textures with earwormy hooks that burrow their way into your head, yet never betrays a fierce intelligence in astounding lyrical depth or harrowing heartache. Matty Healy wishes he was as cool as these three.
Olive (they/them) and Adam (he/him) had an extended conversation with Jono on Christmas Eve about their their trio of self-released singles in 2024 (Jono selected it among his year-end favourites), as well as shooting the breeze about the love-hate relationship dichotomy with our very city of Sydney, cassette tapes, TikTok takes, the tour car, and banh mi?! You can catch more from Egoism in March 2025, playing alongside Middle Kids for Twilight at Taronga Zoo, as well as opening for Teenage Dads with Mac the Knife at Dee Why RSL for Great Southern Nights.
Background songs, all by Egoism:
Getting Older, Lonely but Not Alone, Here’s the Thing, Sydney, What Are We Doing?, You You, Melbourne
