Lockout Laws on Their Last Legs?

Sydney’s infamous lockout laws have been in place for several years now, forcing city venues to close their doors at 1:30am. Businesses from the CBD to Oxford Street and Kings Cross have been forced to close their doors and as Sydney’s nightlife and live music scene dwindles, more and more Sydneysiders are expressing their opposition to the policy.

Now, it appears state politicians are taking notice. Leaked cabinet discussions have suggested that deputy premier John Barilaro is urging the government to ditch the laws before the next election. Tess was joined by Tyson Koh from Keep Sydney Open to discuss the mounting political pressure to end Sydney’s lockouts.
