Logging continues around threatened Gliders
Native forest logging in New South Wales came under scrutiny last year when Forestry Corporation NSW was forced to stop work by the EPA, as their practices threatened the habitats of endangered gliders in Tallaganda State Forest. This violation was one of eight recorded in 2023.
Now, Forestry Corporation is looking to return to logging in the Flat Rock area of the Lansdowne Forest despite alleged inadequate surveying of the area they plan to work in. Community researchers have been determining the den trees of endangered gliders to assess the magnitude of risk involved.
