Macquarie Sunday Sessions: A World of Difference
As the world begins to come out of lockdown, the conversation is beginning to turn to international travel. But the way we travel is likely to have changed for years to come. In this story, Zac de Silva looks at how Jared Styan, an Australian endurance runner, traveller, writer and social change activist living in Peru has handled lockdown. Jared has been working from home for Intiwawa, an NGO working to break the cycle of poverty in the city of Arequipa, in the south of Peru. In this story we also hear from Dr Susanne Becken, Professor of Sustainable Tourism at Griffith University to discover how, as travel opens up, globe-trotters might be able to help improve the lives of people in impoverished communities.
