What made the Fairfax strikes illegal?

Recently, Fairfax journalists voted to go on strike for seven days after the company announced it would axe around 25 percent of editorial jobs. The lesser known fact though, is these Fairfax journalists could now face legal action and fines of more than $10,000 per person.

Why is this the case?

Shae McCrystal, Senior Lecturer on Labour Law at the University of Sydney talked with presenter Myles Houlbrook-Walk about why these journalists weren’t protected.
