Major Research on Happy & Sad Music

Music. We hear it almost every day, especially if you’re tuning into us here at the Friday Daily. Sometimes you want an up-beat tune to make you smile, or sometumes you want a mellow jam to let out those icky feelings. But what makes a piece music happy or sad? For many of us the emotion of a piece of music is associated with major and minor harmonies and melodies. But does everyone in the world experience music this same way? To discuss this question and more, we were joined by Dr. Andrew Milne from Western Sydney University, one of the authors of a recent study about the universal affect of major versus minor music.
