Maritime archaeologists uncover ancient Aboriginal Site
The fresh discovery from recent underwater archaeological fieldwork has confirmed the presence of an ancient Aboriginal site off the Pilbara coast. The ancient site is thought to be the deepest in Australia. This recent discovery follows another major underwater find made in 2019 at Cape Bruguieres that uncovered hundreds of artifacts together with an 8,500-year-old submerged freshwater spring off Dampier Archipelago in WA.
Beth interviewed Dr Chelsea Wiseman, an underwater archaeologist from Flinders University. Chelsea is part of the Deep History of Sea Country Project and has participated in both discoveries.
