Mental Health Awareness: highlighting disproportionate impact on LGBTIQ+ community
Mental Health Awareness month takes place every October offering an opportunity for Australians to consider causes, experiences and solutions around mental health.
One of many Australian demographics impacted by mental ill-health is the LGBTIQ+ community, with 75 percent experiencing a mental health disorder at some stage of life. That compares disproportionately with 41.7 percent of heterosexual people, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
