Mermaids have always been featured prominently within popular culture, through folk, mythology and fantasy stories. Some people spend their childhoods dreaming about these mystical creatures, playing make believe and hoping to become one. Although that isn’t really possible, Hannah Moy is probably as close as you can get. At age 16 she started training as a mermaid professionally, and has since established a team of other ‘mermaids’ and ‘mermen’ who perform at a variety of events, including children’s parties, corporate events, weddings, fundraisers, carnivals and festivals. Hannah has made her passion a full-time job. She joined 2SER producer Rhiannon Williams to discuss her profession and what exactly being a mermaid entails.
