Migrant tradies needed to build homes-housing crisis
Masters Builders Australia released new analysis from the Australian Bureau of statistics which shows an increase of more than a year, in the time it takes to construct a new building.
It’s even more grim for apartment building with an average of 18.5 months from approval to completion to a whopping now 33 months – an increase of 80 per cent.
CEO Denita Wawn says the lack of trades people, graduates not entering the construction industry and complicated government paperwork is not helping for new building to get underway.
It’s intensifying the housing crisis in the country which goes against the government promise to build more homes. She’s calling for more migrant tradies to help out.
