Migration Act: How would ours be different to the US’s style?
On 9th Febuary 2017, the Labour Party raised criticisms concerning amendments to the Migration Act that would allow Immigration Minister Peter Dutton to require entire groups of long-term visa holders to pass a revalidation check. These amendments are a part of the Government’s plan to trial a 10-year visa for Chinese nationals, the changes to the Migration Act have been likened to US President Donald Trump’s temporary immigration ban.
Joining Sean Britten on the Daily to discuss some of the effects of the proposed changes to the Migration Act was Dr. Peter Gale, Senior Lecturer at the University of South Australia.
