More Civil Societies – 2019 Wrap-Up with Julie Macken
2019 as it was; a year full of drought, fire, natural disasters, a flat lining economy, and a world obsessed with nationalism and the top percentile.
People are questioning food security, questioning their governments and the institutions that govern their lives. We saw Royal Commission after Royal Commission, we saw Mr. Pell go from cardinal to criminal, we saw the banks exploit the dead, the ignorant and the anxious, and we saw the public finally confront the abuse of children, the elderly and now the disabled.
Julie points out that we still have drive to question institutions and to become citizens rather than customers, and have increasing hope, faith & trust within our own communities.
