Sydney has recorded another 35 new COVID cases today.
That brings the total number of cases in this outbreak to over 300.
The city’s lockdown is set to end this Friday, and NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian is staying tight-lipped on whether it will be extended.
“I know everybody is keen to know what is going to happen beyond Friday’s lockdown, as am I, but what I can tell you with certainty is that the next couple of days will be absolutely critical in allowing our health experts to collate the data that we’ve had in the last week and then to present their advice to government,” she told reporters.
Epidemiologist at the Burnet Institute, Professor Mike Toole agrees, saying case numbers on Tuesday and Wednesday will decide whether Sydneysiders will need to spend longer in lockdown.
