Another Thursday, another set of film releases. Resident movie buff Michael Jones has returned from hiatus to give his verdict on Battle of the Sexes.
Starring Steve Carell and Emma Stone, Battle of the Sexes. The film covers the 1973 tennis match between Billy Jean King and Bobby Riggs. Michael was a fan of the film, with Steve Carell and Emma Stone slipping seamlessly into their roles, with Carell being particularly hilarious.
He also noted that the actors had nailed the playing styles of both King and Riggs, something many sports films fail to capture. Michael wouldn’t be surprised to see this one coming into Oscar contention next year.
