Music as a Salve in the Quarantine Age
Famous author Hans Christian Andersen once said “where words fail, music speaks”. In a year of unimaginable loss and unspeakable collective trauma, music continues to emerge as a kind of healing agent. We can see – and hear – it from the viral balcony performances, to the live-streamed concerts from the comforts of their bedroom to ours. Dr. Leah Coutts, Music Lecturer at the Queensland Conservatorium at Griffith University, was on Drive to discuss how music unites us all in the era of the lockdown.
