Intro: Despite heavy campaigning by Narendra Modi and his Home Minister Amit Shah the BJP party again lost of the state of West Bengal to the Trinamool Congress Party. Despite the result the BJP party established itself as the main opponent to the Trinamool Congress Party in the region. The BJP party was also unsuccessful in the southern states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
