National day of action against sexual violence

Content warning: this segment discusses sexual violence

University Women Collectives around Sydney will be rallying today to protest inaction on the issue of sexual violence.

In 2016, a Human Rights Commission survey found shockingly high levels of sexual assault and harassment on campuses.

Fifty-one percent of students reported they were sexually harassed at least once on campus.

USyd Women’s Collective has called for the rally saying: “We don’t need any more proof. We don’t need any more statistics. We don’t need any more false promises. We demand change. We demand action. And we demand it now.”

We spoke to Jazzlyn Breen, who is organising today’s rally and she is the Sexual Harassment Officer at University of Sydney’s SRC.
