Native Australian Songbirds Heralded in New Composition

What does a 3D printed flute, a PVC pipe cello and a 16 tone piano have in common? Well, apparently they are the perfect accompaniment to native Australian birdsong.

The vocals of Australian birds aren’t often described as beautiful but one composer is looking to shift our perspectives and draw us just that little bit closer to nature.

2SER Breakfast’s Alex James spoke with PhD candidate Jean-Michel Maujean from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts at Edith Cowan University to unpack his unique compositions.
