Nauru Elects New President
The people of Nauru have chosen not to re-elect Baron Waqa but instead has chosen to elect former Human rights lawyer, Lionel Aingimea in a push for change in the country. President Aingimea plans to run things differently to Waqa and the country might see some drastic changes to the previous leadership. Many people in Nauru are not happy with the direction Waqa took the country in, especially of Nauru becoming Australia’s off-shore processing centre. The Daily was joined by Mark Isaacs, Author of The Undesirables – about Nauru, to discuss the impact of this change in leadership.
