The Nauru Files: Where Do We Go From Here?
Overnight 2000 documents were leaked from the Nauru detention centre that revealed some of the alleged abuse that goes on within the walls of the controversial black site. Reported incidents include accusations of guards slapping children as well as requesting sexual favours in return for preferential treatments. The centre has been followed by controversy and accusations of human rights abuse since it was opened, but the Australian Government is still appears to be making no moves to address the situation.
We spoke Tim O’Conner from the Refugee Council of Australia to discuss these reports and what they might mean for the centre.
